On July 6th, 2022, the National Executive Committee of NASPA convened a meeting with the Executive Director of NSS at the headquarters to address NASPA’s concerns.
During the meeting, the Executive Director welcomed and congratulated the newly elected National Executives, assuring them of any support needed to promote the welfare of service personnel. He also shared the NSS’s innovative initiatives aimed at creating wealth for the scheme and its personnel through “deployment for employment” in Accounting Aid, Tourism, Housing, ICT, and Teaching. Personnel enrolled in these areas are likely to be retained after service.
The issue of delayed disbursement was also discussed, and the committee expressed optimism about receiving it within the month.
The NASPA Annual Mini Congress and preparations for NASPA WEEK before the end of the 2021/2022 service year group were also discussed.
The National Executive Committee of NASPA remains committed to serving the interests of service personnel and calls for unity to promote the welfare of all members and make the association stronger.
On Thursday, December 15th, 2022, the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) National Executives paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Pius Enam Hadzide, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), to discuss issues concerning youth development. The primary agenda of the meeting was to deliberate on how to equip NASPA members with the necessary skills and knowledge to establish their own businesses after their service year.
During the visit, the CEO of NYA expressed his support for NASPA’s initiative and assured the Association of his agency’s preparedness to cooperate and provide assistance whenever necessary. He also highlighted some government programs, such as YouStart, that he encouraged all NASPA members to leverage to start their businesses.
The CEO’s endorsement and encouragement were perceived as a positive step towards the achievement of NASPA’s goals and objectives. It demonstrated the government’s dedication to supporting the youth in the country, including NASPA members, in becoming self-sufficient and contributing significantly to national development.
NASPA remains resolute in prioritizing the welfare of its members and striving to equip them with the requisite expertise and knowledge to succeed in their ventures. The Association will continue to pursue collaboration and partnerships with relevant agencies and organizations to achieve its aspirations.
Huawei Seed for the Future is a program aimed at providing ICT training to students and enhancing their knowledge and skills in the industry. The program aims to promote the growth of the ICT industry and contribute to the development of local talent. In Ghana, the program was launched in 2015, and in 2022, the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) participated in the program. The 2022 NASPA week celebration was a highly anticipated event among the National Service Personnel in Ghana. The launch of the event took place in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti region, on the 14th of September 2022. The theme for the week celebration was “Harnessing the potential of the youth towards food and nutritional security in post-Covid Ghana,” which was very relevant and timely, given the current global pandemic and the need for food security.
The main objective of the celebration was to instill in National Service Personnel the idea of entrepreneurship, vocational, and technical capacities, which would help them equip themselves with these skills that would enable them to fit into the job market after the service year. The launch was held at the SSNIT Conference room in Adum Kumasi and was graced by some prominent personalities in the field of entrepreneurship and vocational training.
Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, the Executive Director of NSS Ghana, who doubled up as the chairman of the event, gave an inspiring speech, emphasizing the need for NSPs to be innovative and creative in finding solutions to the challenges facing the country. Mr. Evans Sarfo-Kantanka, CEO of Kumawuman Rural Bank Ltd, and Mr. Alex Opoku-Mensah, the NSS Ashanti Regional Director, also gave insightful speeches, encouraging NSPs to take advantage of the training opportunities that were available to them during the week celebration.
The training commenced right after the launch and lasted for two days in the Ashanti region. The National Executive Committee (NEC) led by H.E Emmanuel Wit Duncan Agbogah, the National President, organized the training and ensured that all the resource persons for each event were available. The training covered a range of vocational and technical skills, including CCTV installation, cosmetology, leatherwork, agriculture, and catering. The training was held at the Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills training and Entrepreneurial Development and Kumasi Anglican Senior High School respectively.
The training was very successful, and it had a great impact on the NSPs who participated in the program. The training was insightful and informative, and it provided NSPs with the necessary skills and knowledge to start their own businesses, even if they were denied access to white-collar jobs. The NEC of NASPA did an excellent job of organizing and executing the program, which was a testament to their commitment to the welfare and development of NSPs in Ghana.

The 12th Annual NASPA Terminal Congress that born the 2022/23 NASPA National leadership was held in Sekondi – Tarkoradi in the Western Region of Ghana under the theme “enhancing the welfare of the NSP for economic revitalization and national development.”
The election was held on Sunday 26th June, 2022 at the conference center of Animes hostel under the Supervision of then Coordinating Secretary and officers from the electoral Commission of Ghana.
After the introduction of new coordinating secretary from the outgoing national executives, Mr. Prince Abada to congress, the electoral process started with the Presidential Debate, this gave the three Presidential candidates the chance to further convince congress to vote massively for them.
